Recently Good Morning America welcomed its new YA Book Club pick author to the stage, an author held a plant-centric event, a debut launch featured aura readings, and authors discussed climate change in their YA works.


An ‘Immortal’ Debut

On August 6, author I.V. Marie made an appearance on GMA3 to discuss her debut YA fantasy novel Immortal Consequences (Delacorte), GMA’s YA Book Club pick for August. The book follows August, Wren, Emilio, Irene, Masika, and Olivier, six dead students in the afterlife at Blackwood Academy. [When the students are all selected to participate in a competition where only one will get the choice to gain more power or move on to the Other Side. Here, (from l.) Green Thumbs All Around

On July 27, debut author Michael Wang made an appearance at plant shop Tula House, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to present his picture book, Leif’s Gift, illustrated by Lenny Wen (Norton Young Readers), a tale about a child with a penchant for gardening. Book Soulmates

Rebecca Danzenbaker celebrated the launch of her debut YA novel Soulmatch (Simon & Schuster) at the Fleetwood Farm Winery in Leesburg, Va. on July 29. Co-hosted by Middleburg Books, the event featured Danzenbaker in conversation with author Constance Sayer, a q&a, and a book signing. Guests were also invited to receive aura readings. Here (from l.) Cli-Fi Chaos

Brave + Kind Bookshop in Decatur, Ga., welcomed Cassandra Newbould on July 24 to her showcase her new YA novel, Climate of Chaos (Peachtree Teen). The YA cli-fi novel follows teen Fox who attempts to rescue their sibling in a postwar world where medical debt cripples the community. Newbould (l.) was joined by author Jill Tew (r.) for a conversation followed by a book signing.
