Radical publisher PM Press has announced its acquisition of Just World Books, an independent press founded in 2010 with a focus on war and peace issues, particularly in the Middle East.

PM Press will take over the Just World catalog for direct sales effective immediately, with trade distribution to begin on March 1, 2026 via Publishers Group West. The publisher has also announced it will issue new editions of two popular Just World titles in spring 2026: The Gaza Kitchen: A Palestinian Cultural Journey by Laila El-Haddad and Maggie Schmitt, and Mohammad Sabaaneh’s White and Black: Political Cartoons from Palestine.

PM publisher Ramsey Kanaan said in a statement that the press was “deeply honored and excited to be entrusted as the new home for Just World Books.”

“We're delighted to welcome their Palestinian, anti-Zionist Jewish, and other radical writers and artists into the PM Press family,” he continued. “Together, we will continue to strive to understand the world we currently inhabit and struggle to create a better future for us all.”

At PM, Just World’s authors, who also include Refaat Alareer, Leila Abdelrazaq, and Miko Peled, will join the ranks of politically progressive writers in a variety of genres. Founded in 2007, PM has published such authors as Noam Chomsky, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Jonathan Lethem.

Just World Book founder Helena Cobban expressed enthusiasm that PM would strengthen the impact of Just World’s political mission. “I am really excited about PM Press’s ability to connect with book markets worldwide, as well as their commitment to supporting justice movements by running book tables at hundreds of in-person events and conferences every year,” she said. “Our amazing authors and their works are now in excellent hands, at what is clearly a crucial moment for supporters of Palestinian rights worldwide.”

Cobban is also the president of Just World Educational, a nonprofit founded in 2015 focused on raising awareness about international issues through resource-sharing and public events. She ran Just World Books by herself prior to the acquisition, and has now fully handed over the reins to PM.

In its announcement, PM said it that it plans to ramp up distribution of Just World titles “through the trade and their presence at events and conferences,” and to continue issuing new editions after this spring.

Just World, which was based in Washington D.C., will move its operations to PM’s headquarters in Ithaca, N.Y. No new employees will be joining the PM team.
