IMLS Releases 2023 Public Libraries Survey Data

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has published the results of its 2023 Public Libraries Survey. Supplied annually by public libraries across the country, the data aims to help policymakers and practitioners make informed decisions about the support and strategic management of libraries, per the IMLS website.

The survey, which has been done annually since 1988, provides information about when, where, and how library services are changing to meet the needs of the public. The Trump administration’s slash-and-burn of the IMLS, among many other federal agencies, threatens the future of this research, as well as the institute’s ability to distribute funds for local research and development.
