Jill Perlstein Leaves ABA After 31 Years
Jill Perlstein, the American Booksellers Association’s meetings and planning officer, has left the organization last month after 31 years.
Perlstein joined the ABA in 1994 as marketing manager, and worked her way up through the ranks over the years, serving as marketing services manager, marketing services director, director of marketing and, for the past 15 years, meetings and planning officer, focusing on Winter Institute and Children’s Institute logistics.
Perlstein, who was director of marketing at the time, was responsible in 2000 for the creation of the ABA's Book Sense gift certificate program, which allowed for gift certificates that were purchased at one ABA bookstore to be redeemed at another. The paper certificates were replaced three years later with plastic cards.
Perlstein’s LinkedIn profile indicates that she is now freelancing as an events and meeting planner.
Senior meetings and planning coordinator Maria Rodriguez, who has worked for the ABA since 2014, most recently as senior meetings and planning coordinator, was promoted in August to meetings and planning manager to replace Perlstein.
