Last February, Anne Rivers Siddons's editor, Larry Ashmead, sent a select group of booksellers and reviewers beach-plum jelly and blueberry tea, along with a galley of the author's latest, Up Island, set on Martha's Vineyard. He noted that this is the "one story Siddons was destined to tell." Obviously, his message reached her many fans, as the book hits the national charts (#8 on PW's) ahead of the official pub date, June 19. The author is on a 12-city national tour; the book has more than 160,000 copies in print.
