Officials at the BookExpo America Convention have announced show dates and locales for the next five BEA conventions; these include a return to New York City in both 2002 and in 2005. The show was last held in New York City in 1991. Courtney Muller, BEA show manager and industry v-p, said, "New York is a center of publishing, and it's only appropriate that we include it in our future plans." Over the next five years the show will be held in Chicago, June 1-3, 2001; New York, May 3-5, 2002; Los Angeles, May 30-June 1, 2003; Chicago, June 4-6, 2004; New York, June 3-5, 2005. Muller noted that while New York, Chicago and Los Angeles were selected because of their strong book markets, other cities may be considered after 2005.
