Bill Brinton, who acquired Consortium Book Sales & Distribution in 1992, has hired Publishing Strategy International to find a buyer for the St. Paul, Minn.—based company. Brinton, who is 86, has placed the company up for sale for personal reasons, according to PSI's Bill Hammond. Hammond said Brinton hopes to find a buyer in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area who could bring money and expertise to the distributor. Consortium handles distribution for about 74 independent presses, and, according to Hammond, had solid gains for the first quarter of fiscal 2002 that ended September 30, 2001.
