Jan and Stan Berenstain, veteran children's author-illustrators, with more than 230 books to their credit over 40 years, are moving to HarperCollins for their next Berenstain Bears picture book, set for Christmas next year. The new deal for the pair, who have been Random House authors for many years, was orchestrated by Sterling Lord of his own firm with Harper Children's editor-in-chief Kate Morgan Jackson for world English rights—though Lord stresses it is only for the one book. The couple's son Michael will work with them on the artwork for the book, tentatively titled How the Berenstain Bears Saved Christmas, which will be about the ursine family seeking the true meaning of the holiday.
