In an opportunity seldom offered, would-be readers of a new edition of Lawrence Lessig's celebrated book on cyberspace and the law, Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace, will get a chance to offer editorial suggestions, the best of which Lessig will adopt. It will be done via a "wiki," a Web site that allows readers to make changes in a book's electronically projected text. The unique opportunity, being offered by publisher Basic Books, is believed to be a first for a major publisher. It was the house's William Frucht who bought rights in the new edition from Amanda Urban at ICM. Lessig will, of course, have final word on the edits.
