Bookstore sales fell for the fourth straight month in July, according to preliminary estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. Sales in July declined 1.9%, to $1.15 billion, while sales for all of retail rose 7.1%. In the January through July period, bookstore sales were up 1%, to $8.82 billion, compared to an 8.3% increase for the entire retail sector.
