A keen auction for a book by widely published young journalist Benoit Denizen-Lewis was won for S&S by Bob Bender, who paid a "significant" six-figure advance for an untitled book about the nation's countless addicts, slaves to food, sex, booze, drugs, gambling—you name it. Denizen-Lewis will interview many addicts for their stories of both ruin and recovery to provide an up-to-date picture of American addiction. Bender got world rights from Todd Shuster at Zachary Shuster Harmsworth. Denizen-Lewis, at 29 the youngest contract writer for the New York Times Magazine, is currently a fellow at the Alicia Patterson Institute, researching teenage suicide and addiction.
